Cinco De Mayo is a huge holiday for not only people in Mexico, but in America as well. Many Americans, however, do not even understand the concept of what the holiday is about. They just want to dress fashionably and go drink tequila (which by all means, you can do on any day!). The first step to not culturally appropriating your outfit while celebrating is to learn about the holiday and the fashions that inspired Mexican fashion for centuries. Cinco De Mayo in Mexico is a celebration of the defeat over the French army at the Battle of Puebla. The battle took place on May 5,Read More →

I recently went on vacation to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. It was a great time of warmth and good outfits. I made my boyfriend take photos of me every day (Thanks Cory) so that I could share my looks with you. Here they are!   The first day after arriving was actually pretty cold. I wore a dress, but carried a long sleeve shirt with me and wore boots. I inadvertently created a 90’s look because of this and I kept laughing about it.       Probably my favorite look from the whole vacation was when I wore this Hawaiian shirt crop topRead More →

Every week I will be featuring 6 items that I love, and that you should love too! The first week of May is National Wildflower Week, so to promote that, I’ve chosen 6 floral items for this week’s picks! National Wildflower Week promotes the preservation of wildflowers in the United States. Wildflowers are so important to our environment, plus they keep the land naturally beautiful. If nothing else, please spread the word this week to promote the importance of this week. The first item I’ve chosen is a dress. May is when it really starts to warm up and I can finally start wearing dresses again. I’ve picked aRead More →

I used to wash my hair every day. I don’t like germs and I felt that washing it every day was what was necessary. Once I read the benefits of washing your hair every other day or every three days, I decided to try it. My hair – which used to be so knotty and tangly and a pain to style is now manageable! That’s something I thought would never happen with my thick hair. It’s changed my time getting ready in the morning drastically. They key is only wash your hair when you need to. You will know. For some people, it happens to beRead More →

I studied film production in college. Actually, it was film production and criminal justice (for documentary purposes), but for now I’m going to focus on the film part. While I’ve seen a lot of movies, many of them aren’t the “popular” movies that everybody loves (I haven’t seen The Godfather, but I have seen a film called Gummo. Ever heard of it? Probably not.). I’ve compiled a list of 12 movies that I love in no particular order – except for the first two. The first two are my all time favorite movies. And the movies are: 1. Every week I will be featuring 6 items that I love, and that you should love too! This week I am on vacation, so I’ve chosen 6 items that I’d love to bring with me on vacation for a day in the sun and an evening by the campfire. I’ve begun by choosing a swimsuit that features my favorite color – pastel pink. I love that it stripes with white. It gives the swimsuit a cool feel. To protect from the sun, you need a stylish sunhat. I’ve chosen one that’s black to contrast the swimsuit. Plus the bow on it is adorable. Adding to theRead More →

The Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino is a magical drink that is only available for 5 days. It changes flavors and color as time goes on. If you haven’t jumped on this trend yet: WHY NOT? For reference, here is what we are working with: Here is what you will need: First you will need a blue tie-dye shirt. The blue represents the sour blue swirl, while the white perfectly represents the whipped cream topping. I personally chose a top that featuredRead More →

While fashion is a leading industry in the world, there are only a handful of companies who create their products sustainably while being environmentally conscious. Many companies don’t treat their workers as fairly as they deserve. I’d like to highlight some companies who excel in reducing environmental impact as well as treating their employees with excellence. Earth Day is every day and we should treat it that way in all aspects, especially fashion! Mayamiko About the company: Mayamiko combines African clothing-making techniques with current fashions. Established in Malawi in 2013, their looks are bold and you will stand out in any room! Why they areRead More →
